Q. Why do I need to report my child’s absence from school?

A. Your child’s safety is our Number 1 priority. If your child has been marked absent and we have not heard from you, you will be contacted to provide confirmation. It is a legal requirement to account for your child’s absence from school.

Q. Do I need to email my child’s tutor?

A. No- by emailing this address attendance@cirencesterkingshill.gloucs.sch.uk the relevant parties will be informed of your child’s absence

Q. Do I need to email my child’s Head of Year?

A. No- by emailing this address attendance@cirencesterkingshill.gloucs.sch.uk the relevant parties will be informed of your child’s absence

Q. What is the Absence line?

A. The Absence line is a voicemail box in the Attendance office that is monitored daily between the hours of 8am-2.30pm

Q. How can I leave a message on the Absence Line?

A. Simply telephone the normal school number (01285 651 511) and press Option 1 to leave a message.

Q. What information do you require me to leave on the Absence line?

A. Please leave your child’s name, tutor group, and a brief explanation as to why they will be absent. For example, ‘John Smith, 9B, tummy ache’.

Q. I have more than 1 child at Cirencester Kingshill School- how do I report them both/all absent?

A. Simply leave a message on the Absence Line (01285 651 511 option 1) or email: attendance@cirencesterkingshill.gloucs.sch.uk

Q. Do I need to write a letter to confirm my child’s absence from school?

A. No. You can confirm an absence by leaving a message on the Absence line (01285 651 511 option 1) or by emailing the Attendance officer on attendance@cirencesterkingshill.gloucs.sch.uk

Q. Can I text a message to school to inform of my child’s absence?

A. At present we do not have a facility that enables Parents/ Carers to text to report absence.

Q. Does my child need to bring in a letter after a period of absence?

A. A letter is not necessary. You need to provide confirmation of absence and can do this either by emailing attendance@cirencesterkingshill.gloucs.sch.uk or by telephoning 01285 651 511 option 1, and leaving a message.

Q. Who is the Attendance Officer and can I speak directly to them if I need to?

A. The Attendance Officer is Miss Kelly and she works from 8am-3.30pm Monday- Friday. She is available to speak to directly. Simply call the Absence line on 01285 651 511, option 1, leave a message and she will return your call.
