Term 1, Week 4 The Kingshill Year 10 rugby team kicked off their season in style with a hard-fought and competitive match against Deer Park. Right from the whistle, our players demonstrated fantastic team spirit, determination, and resilience , making for an exciting and intense game. Despite missing a few key players, the team showed great versatility and skill, adapting to the challenge and executing some excellent attacking rugby.

Year 11 Netballers Shine at Schools County Netball Tournament Term 1, Week 4 Our Year 11 netball team stepped up to the challenge this week as they competed in the Schools County Netball Tournament, facing strong opposition in an exciting and competitive afternoon of sport. The team played five matches in their pool group, taking on Bournside, Cleeve, Pittville, Sir William Romney, and Westonbirt. Throughout the tournament, the girls displayed incredible resilience and determination, working together as a team to support and encourage one another. They embraced the challenge of playing against some tough teams, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to play in their preferred positions at some point during the afternoon.

Empowering Student Voices: School Council’s First Meeting of the Year Term 1, Week 4 One of the true highlights of my week was working with the full School Council during their first official meeting of the year. This dynamic group of 30 students, representing all year groups, came together with enthusiasm, energy, and a shared commitment to making a positive impact on school life. They were also expertly supported by our Year 11 Senior Students, who provided guidance and leadership to help steer discussions and ideas. The meeting marked the beginning of an exciting journey, with students setting out their ambitions and priorities for the year ahead.

Celebrating Success: Sparx Maths Award Winners Last week, we had the pleasure of recognising some of our top-performing students in Sparx Maths with a special achievement badge. These badges were awarded to the students who earned the highest XP points in their year group throughout the last academic year—a testament to their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to their mathematical learning. What is XP, and how is it earned? XP points are accumulated on Sparx when students complete a variety of tasks, including homework, Independent Learning activities, and book work accuracy.

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting a professional graffiti artist, who has worked magic on our previously tired pebble-dashed render, turning it into a stunning piece of art that now adds vibrancy and creativity to our school environment. Throughout the week, students had the unique opportunity to witness the artistic process unfold in real time. Many gathered to watch as bold colours and intricate details brought the design to life, completely transforming the space.

We were absolutely delighted that over 20% of our students returned to school to help welcome prospective families, lead tours, assist in departments, and share their experiences. Kingshill’s First Extend Fayre of the Year: Showcasing Extra-Curricular Opportunities Term 1, Week 3 On Wednesday lunchtime, we were thrilled to host our very first Extend Fayre, an event designed to highlight the wide range of extra-curricular activities available to our students. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as students explored different clubs, sports teams, creative groups, and community initiatives, all aimed at enriching their school experience beyond the classroom. As part of our commitment to personal growth and character development through the UP Strategy, we actively encourage all students to participate in at least one extra-curricular activity. This not only allows them to discover new interests and talents but also contributes to their overall ‘kindness’ score, which recognises their engagement in school and community events.
