Year 7 Football Team: A Promising Start in the National ESFA Cup

Term 1, Week 6

Our Year 7 football team had their first opportunity to represent Kingshill in competitive action this week, taking on Wootton Bassett in Round 2 of the National ESFA Cup. It was a fantastic experience for the squad as they stepped onto the pitch for their debut match, playing with determination and team spirit.

Wootton Bassett proved to be strong opponents, and despite our best efforts, we were unable to secure a victory. However, Mr. Thomas is incredibly proud of the resilience and teamwork shown by all 12 players. The boys demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout the match, working hard from start to finish and never letting their heads drop.

A special mention goes to Charlie D, who captained the team with maturity and responsibility, leading by example on and off the pitch. His leadership helped to keep the team motivated and focused, and we’re confident he will continue to inspire his teammates in future fixtures.

While the result didn’t go our way this time, this is just the beginning for our Year 7 footballers. The team is eager to continue developing their skills, improving their performance, and enjoying the game together. Their next challenge will come after Christmas, as they embark on an exciting district football campaign—an opportunity to build on their experiences and showcase their progress.

Well done to all the players for their efforts, and we look forward to seeing how the team grows throughout the season!
