GCSE Awards Evening 2016

It was a pleasure to share an evening with our past pupils and their parents, to see them receive their GCSE certificates.

Richard Whincup joined us as guest speaker. Richard grew up with a chronic and debilitating stammer.

He appeared on the Channel 4 documentary ‘Stammer School: Musharaf Finds his Voice’, where he helped five pupils learn to control their speech using the same techniques which changed his life. His involvement in ‘Stammer School’ attracted much local and national media interest, including ITV’s This Morning, BBC Radio 5 Live and The Sunday Telegraph.

Richard is a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Holder and is now an ambassador and spokesperson for the award scheme.

Richard encouraged the pupils to ‘keep moving forward’ and to not rest in their comfort zones. His speech was inspirational and was well received by both past pupils and parents.

It was a celebratory evening, congratulating all our 2016 GCSE pupils. We wish them success and happiness for the future.
